Van Gogh's Ear by Diemut Strebe
Van Gogh's severed ear was 'regrown' from cells of a living relative, the great-great grandson of his brother Theo. The ear was shaped by bio-artist Diemut Strebe on a 3-D printer and grown at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. It was shown in June at the Centre for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany, and will be in New York next year. Thanks to Danny Ayala for showing it to me www.dannyayala.com

James Jones extends attachment theory to religion ...
"If our psychology is inherently relational, it is not
antipsychological to see reality as interrelated. If there is no escaping dependency on a
self-object milieu, there is nothing childish about acknowledging connection to
a self-sustaining universal matrix. If
selves necessarily stand in relation, it is not necessarily irrational to ask if this complex of selves in relation does not itself stand in relation."

Granted - a poem by Maxine Chernoff
'A film is always like a book and not like a conversation' - Christian Metz
As I saw your face nearing
my face, snow fell through
a keyhole and opened the door.
We went inside and watched
windows wax green and gold.
Spring, we decided, was more
oppressive than winter with
its alyssum and clover
and the sheer weight of life
crowding us off the page.
We stayed in bed for years
and took our cures patiently
from each other’s cups.
We read Bleak House and
stored our money in socks.
Nothing opened as we did.

Quote: Adam Phillips
"We must learn to desire with guile and without hope; to love in conflict, rather than betraying our desire in fantasies of harmony."

Quote: Stephen de Staebler
"The performance, the process of making anything - and most certainly art - is the art. The resulting object commemorates the event."
